Meridian Hawks (Macon, IL) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Heyworth Hornets (Heyworth, IL), 7-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Hawks now own a 12-3 record. They take the field next when they host Shelbyville for a Central Illinois challenge on Monday, April 15. Meridian will battle a Rams squad coming off a 12-2 league loss to Central A & M (Moweaqua, IL). The Rams record now stands at 1-6.

With the loss, Heyworth falls to 7-4 on the campaign. The Hornets travel to Okaw Valley (Bethany, IL) to battle the Timberwolves in a non-league challenge on Saturday, April 13. The Timberwolves enter the challenge with a record of 2-7. Okaw Valley lost 15-0 in their recent non-league challenge against Tolono Unity (Tolono, IL)
