Lexington Minutemen (Lexington, IL) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad run past the host Hoopeston Cornjerkers (Hoopeston, IL), 16-5 in a non-league challenge.

The Minutemen now own a 7-10 record. They take the field next when they host Fisher for a Heart of Illinois challenge on Monday, April 15. Lexington will battle a Bunnies squad coming off a 12-2 league loss to LeRoy (LeRoy, IL). The Bunnies record now stands at 4-8.

With the loss, Hoopeston falls to 9-7 on the campaign. The Cornjerkers host Oakwood (Fithian, IL) to battle the Comets in a Vermilion Valley challenge on Monday, April 15. The Comets enter the challenge with a record of 3-11. Oakwood lost 8-6 in their recent non-league challenge against Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond (Arthur, IL)
