Lawrence Free State Firebirds (Lawrence, KS) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Topeka Trojans (Topeka, KS), 6-4 in a non-league challenge.

The Firebirds now own a 7-3 record. They take the field next when they travel to Shawnee Mission West for a non-league challenge on Tuesday, April 16.

With the loss, Topeka falls to 3-7 on the campaign. The Trojans travel to Blue Valley (Stilwell, KS) to battle the Tigers in a non-league challenge on Thursday, April 18. The Tigers enter the challenge with a record of 5-2.
