Waterford Lancers (Waterford, CT) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Newtown Nighthawks (Newtown, CT), 6-3 in a non-league challenge.

The Lancers now own a 4-1 record. They take the field next when they host Fitch for a Eastern Connecticut - Large challenge on Monday, April 15.

With the loss, Newtown falls to 2-3 on the campaign. The Nighthawks travel to Pomperaug (Southbury, CT) to face the Panthers in a Southwest - Colonial challenge on Monday, April 15. The Panthers enter the challenge with a record of 1-2.
