Homestead Spartans (Fort Wayne, IN) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Columbia City Eagles (Columbia City, IN), 12-7 in a non-league challenge.

The Spartans now own a 1-0 record. They take the field next when they host Huntington North for a non-league challenge on Monday, April 18. Homestead will battle a Vikings squad coming off a 16-7 non-league win over Southwood (Wabash, IN). The Vikings record now stands at 1-0.

With the loss, Columbia City falls to 1-1 on the campaign. The Eagles host Warsaw (Warsaw, IN) to battle the Tigers in a non-league challenge on Tuesday, April 19. The Tigers enter the challenge with a record of 0-1. Warsaw lost 20-1 in their recent non-league challenge against Whitko (South Whitley, IN)
