Columbia Blue Devils (East Greenbush, NY) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Niskayuna Silver Warriors (Niskayuna, NY), 6-2 in a league challenge.

The Blue Devils now own a 5-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake for a Section 2 Suburban - Blue challenge on Monday, April 17. Columbia will battle a Spartans squad coming off a 6-4 non-league loss to Webster Schroeder (Webster, NY). The Spartans record now stands at 4-2.

With the loss, Niskayuna falls to 2-3 on the campaign. The Silver warriors travel to Shaker (Latham, NY) to battle the Bison in a Section 2 Suburban - Blue challenge on Monday, April 17. The Bison enter the challenge with a record of 1-4. Shaker lost 3-2 in their recent non-league challenge against Tamarac (Troy, NY)
