St. Vincent-St. Mary Fighting Irish (Akron, OH) fans exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Norton Panthers (Norton, OH), 13-9 in a non-league challenge.

The Fighting Irish now sport a 5-3 record. They take the field next when they host Western Reserve Academy for a non-league challenge on Monday, April 17. St. Vincent-St. Mary will face a Pioneers squad coming off a 7-1 non-league loss to Lake Catholic (Mentor, OH). The Pioneers record now stands at 0-3.

With the loss, Norton falls to 3-5 on the campaign. The Panthers travel to Garfield (Garrettsville, OH) to face the G-Men in a non-league challenge on Saturday, April 15. The G-Men enter the challenge with a record of 5-5. Garfield won 6-4 in their recent league challenge against Liberty (Youngstown, OH)
