The Westville Blackhawks edged the visiting Bremen Lions softball squad by a count of 8-7 in Monday's non-league challenge.
Next, the Blackhawks meet the Glenn Falcons (Walkerton, IN) in a non-league challenge, on Wednesday, April 16. Westville will attempt to upgrade on its 3-0 season record. The Falcons enter the challenge with a 4-2 record after their 16-0 non-league loss to La Porte (La Porte, IN).
The Lions (2-4) will now prepare for their challenge against Goshen (Goshen, IN). The RedHawks enter the non-league challenge with a 1-1 record. In their last challenge, Goshen edged West Noble (Ligonier, IN), 12-2, in a non-league challenge.
Game Summary
The Bremen Lady Lion Softball team traveled to Westville for a Monday night game where the host Bobcats 8-7. Bremen jumped out to a 1-0 lead as Eliana Grubbs lead off with a single and Chrissy Grabowski doubled in Grubbs. Westville answered with two runs in the bottom of the frame after an error, single & double. The Lady Lions recaptured the lead in the top of the 5th with a Grubbs double, Grabowski single scored Grubbs, then Delainey Neher singled in Grabowski. Westville then answered again with 3 runs in the bottom of the 5th. Madi Milleman doubled to start the 6th for teh Lions scoring when Emma Flora reaching on an error. Westville then added two more in the b Gruottom of the 6th to take a 7-4 lead. The Lady Lions showed some Grit as the scored 3 runs in the top of the 7th, only to fall a run short as Westville scored the game winner in the bottom of the 7th.
