Gillespie Miners (Gillespie, IL) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Centralia Orphans (Centralia, IL), 4-0 in a non-league challenge.

The Miners now own a 10-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to Mater Dei for a non-league challenge on Monday, April 17. Gillespie will face a Knights squad coming off a 16-14 non-league loss to Nashville (Nashville, IL). The Knights record now stands at 11-1.

With the loss, Centralia falls to 8-6 on the campaign. The Orphans travel to O'Fallon (O'Fallon, IL) to face the Panthers in a non-league challenge on Monday, April 17. The Panthers enter the challenge with a record of 1-8. O'Fallon lost 16-1 in their recent non-league challenge against Columbia (Columbia, IL)
