NorthWood Panthers (Nappanee, IN) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Elkhart Lions (Elkhart, IN), 8-5 in a non-league challenge.

The Panthers now own a 2-4 record. They take the field next when they host Concord for a Northern Lakes challenge on Monday, April 17. NorthWood will battle a Minutemen squad coming off a 12-0 non-league loss to Buchanan (Buchanan, MI). The Minutemen record now stands at 1-5.

With the loss, Elkhart falls to 1-5 on the campaign. The Lions host South Bend Clay (South Bend, IN) to battle the Colonials in a Northern Indiana challenge on Tuesday, April 18. The Colonials enter the challenge with a record of 5-3. South Bend Clay won 17-2 in their recent non-league challenge against Hammond Bishop Noll (Hammond, IN)
