Pearl River Pirates (Pearl River, NY) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Lakeland Hornets (Shrub Oak, NY), 9-3 in a non-league challenge.

The Pirates now own a 2-2 record. They take the field next when they host Clarkstown South for a non-league challenge on Friday, April 19. Pearl River will face a Vikings squad coming off a 36-0 non-league win over Suffern (Suffern, NY). The Vikings record now stands at 6-0.

With the loss, Lakeland falls to 0-1 on the campaign.
