El Monte Lions (El Monte, CA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Nogales Nobles (La Puente, CA), 5-3 in a non-league challenge.

The Lions now own a 9-8 record. They take the field next when they travel to Rosemead for a Mission Valley challenge on Wednesday, April 17. El Monte will battle a Panthers squad coming off a 13-0 league loss to Arroyo (El Monte, CA). The Panthers record now stands at 6-10.

With the loss, Nogales falls to 0-10 on the campaign. The Nobles host Workman (City of Industry, CA) to battle the Lobos in a Montview challenge on Wednesday, April 17. The Lobos enter the challenge with a record of 0-10. Workman lost 21-3 in their recent league challenge against Sierra Vista (Baldwin Park, CA)
