Elkhart Lions (Elkhart, IN) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting NorthWood Panthers (Nappanee, IN), 7-5 in a non-league challenge.

The Lions now own a 1-2 record. They take the field next when they travel to South Bend Clay for a Northern Indiana challenge on Monday, April 18. Elkhart will face a Colonials squad coming off a 16-8 non-league loss to Logansport (Logansport, IN). The Colonials record now stands at 3-2.

With the loss, NorthWood falls to 1-3 on the campaign. The Panthers travel to Concord (Elkhart, IN) to face the Minutemen in a Northern Lakes challenge on Monday, April 18. The Minutemen enter the challenge with a record of 1-2. Concord lost 7-5 in their recent non-league challenge against Buchanan (Buchanan, MI)
