The Newton Eagles softball team scored 13 runs and limited the host Greenville Comets to 0 in the Eagles non-league triumph on Saturday.
With the triumph, Newton moves its record to 11-4 on the year. The Eagles host Red Hill (Bridgeport, IL) to clash with the Salukis in a Little Illini game on Monday, April 18. The Salukis come into the game with a record of 0-4. Red Hill lost 11-1 in their recent league game against Richland County (Olney, IL)
In their next game, the Comets clash with the Pana Panthers (Pana, IL) in a South Central game, on Tuesday, April 19. Greenville will attempt to move on its 7-7 season record. The Panthers come into the game with a 3-6 record after their 10-9 non-league loss to Vandalia (Vandalia, IL).
