McCutcheon Mavericks (Lafayette, IN) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the host North Newton Spartans (Morocco, IN), 3-0 in a non-league challenge.

The Mavericks now own a 3-1 record. They take the field next when they host Benton Central for a non-league challenge on Tuesday, April 19. McCutcheon will battle a Bison squad coming off a 11-3 league win over Rensselaer Central (Rensselaer, IN). The Bison record now stands at 6-0.

With the loss, North Newton falls to 4-1 on the campaign. The Spartans host Frontier (Chalmers, IN) to battle the Falcons in a Midwest challenge on Thursday, April 21. The Falcons enter the challenge with a record of 0-5.
