The crowd at Tuesday's non-league match between the Mellen Granite Diggers (Mellen, WI) and the visiting Three Lakes/Phelps (Three Lakes, WI), saw Mellen's softball squad nip Three Lakes/Phelps by a count of 4-0.

The Granite Diggers now sport a 1-0 record. They take the field next when they travel to Hurley for a Northern Lights match on Thursday, April 18. Mellen will face a Northstars squad coming off a 14-1 league win over South Shore (Port Wing, WI). The Northstars record now stands at 2-3.

With the loss, Three Lakes/Phelps falls to 1-2 on the campaign. The travel to Wittenberg-Birnamwood (Wittenberg, WI) to face the Chargers in a non-league match on Saturday, April 20. The Chargers come into the test with a record of 4-2. Wittenberg-Birnamwood won 9-2 in their recent league test against Amherst (Amherst, WI)
