Burns Bulldogs (Lawndale, NC) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Lincolnton Wolves (Lincolnton, NC), 14-9 in a non-league challenge.

The Bulldogs now own a 6-8 record. They take the field next when they host Shelby for a Southern Piedmont 1A/2A challenge on Tuesday, April 23. Burns will face a Golden Lions squad coming off a 17-2 league win over Bessemer City (Bessemer City, NC). The Golden Lions record now stands at 9-4.

With the loss, Lincolnton falls to 5-11 on the campaign. The Wolves travel to East Burke (Connelly Springs, NC) to face the Cavaliers in a Catawba Valley Athletic 2A challenge on Friday, April 19. The Cavaliers enter the challenge with a record of 8-9. East Burke won 6-5 in their recent non-league challenge against Watauga (Boone, NC)
