Fairfax Stampede (Laveen, AZ) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Cesar Chavez Champions (Laveen, AZ), 2-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Stampede now own a 16-5 record. They take the field next when they travel to Metro Tech for a 5A Metro challenge on Friday, April 19. Fairfax will battle a Knights squad coming off a 15-0 league loss to Sierra Linda (Phoenix, AZ). The Knights record now stands at 0-19.

With the loss, Cesar Chavez falls to 7-16 on the campaign. The Champions host Tolleson (Tolleson, AZ) to battle the Wolverines in a 6A West Valley challenge on Thursday, April 18. The Wolverines enter the challenge with a record of 18-8. Tolleson won 13-3 in their recent league challenge against Maricopa (Maricopa, AZ)
