Eureka Hornets (Eureka, IL) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad run past the host Deer Creek-Mackinaw Chiefs (Mackinaw, IL), 13-5 in a league challenge.

The Hornets now own a 3-4 record. They take the field next when they travel to Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley for a Heart of Illinois challenge on Wednesday, April 20. Eureka will battle a Falcons squad coming off a 7-2 league loss to El Paso-Gridley (El Paso, IL). The Falcons record now stands at 4-5.

With the loss, Deer Creek-Mackinaw falls to 1-10 on the campaign. The Chiefs host Lexington (Lexington, IL) to battle the Minutemen in a Heart of Illinois challenge on Wednesday, April 20. The Minutemen enter the challenge with a record of 8-3. Lexington lost 4-3 in their recent non-league challenge against Bloomington Central Catholic (Bloomington, IL)
