East Wilkes Cardinals (Ronda, NC) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad run past the visiting Alleghany Trojans (Sparta, NC), 16-0 in a league challenge.

The Cardinals now own a 14-3 record. They take the field next when they host Ledford for a non-league challenge on Thursday, April 21. East Wilkes will battle a Panthers squad coming off a 4-3 non-league win over Randleman (Randleman, NC). The Panthers record now stands at 10-6.

With the loss, Alleghany falls to 0-16 on the campaign. The Trojans host Mount Airy (Mount Airy, NC) to battle the Granite Bears in a Northwest 1A challenge on Wednesday, April 20. The Granite Bears enter the challenge with a record of 2-13. Mount Airy won 6-4 in their recent league challenge against North Stokes (Danbury, NC)
