The Gillespie Miners softball team scored 9 runs and limited the host Southwestern Piasa Birds to 1 in the Miners league triumph on Tuesday.

With the triumph, Gillespie moves its record to 16-2 on the year. The Miners host Carlinville (Carlinville, IL) to play the Cavaliers in a South Central game on Friday, April 22. The Cavaliers come into the game with a record of 8-1. Carlinville won 6-2 in their recent non-league game against Pleasant Hill (Pleasant Hill, IL)

In their next game, the Piasa Birds play the Metro-East Lutheran Knights (Edwardsville, IL) in a non-league game, on Thursday, April 28. Southwestern will attempt to move on its 2-8 season record.
