Williams Field Black Hawks (Gilbert, AZ) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Mesquite Wildcats (Gilbert, AZ), 9-5 in a non-league challenge.

The Black Hawks now own a 18-11 record. They take the field next when they host Higley for a 5A San Tan challenge on Thursday, April 20. Williams Field will battle a Knights squad coming off a 4-2 league win over Casa Grande (Casa Grande, AZ). The Knights record now stands at 20-9.

With the loss, Mesquite falls to 6-14 on the campaign. The Wildcats host Marcos de Niza (Tempe, AZ) to battle the Padres in a 4A Desert Sky challenge on Thursday, April 20. The Padres enter the challenge with a record of 11-6. Marcos de Niza won 15-0 in their recent non-league challenge against Coronado (Scottsdale, AZ)
