The Hoover Vikings (North Canton, OH) softball nipped the host Boardman Spartans (Youngstown, OH), 4-3 in Friday's non-league bout.

The Vikings (4-3) will now prepare for their bout against Riverside (Painesville, OH). The Beavers go into the non-league bout with a 9-7 record. In their last bout, Riverside was edged by Walsh Jesuit (Cuyahoga Falls, OH), 13-0, in a non-league bout.

The Spartans now possess a 7-6 record. They play next when they travel to Chardon for a non-league bout on Saturday, April 20. Boardman will confront a Hilltoppers squad coming off a 14-7 league loss to North (Eastlake, OH). The Hilltoppers record now stands at 8-4.
