The Ben L. Smith Golden Eagles triumphed over the visiting Western Guilford Hornets softball squad by a count of 23-13 in Wednesday's non-league challenge.
Next, the Golden Eagles play the Dudley Panthers (Greensboro, NC) in a Mid-State 3A challenge, on Friday, April 4. Ben L. Smith will attempt to upgrade on its 2-8 season record. The Panthers enter the challenge with a 2-9 record after their 16-1 league loss to Atkins (Winston-Salem, NC).
The Hornets (2-13) will now prepare for their challenge against Grimsley (Greensboro, NC). The Whirlies enter the Metro 4A challenge with a 4-10 record. In their last challenge, Grimsley was routed by Williams (Burlington, NC), 10-9, in a non-league challenge.
