Cholla Chargers (Tucson, AZ) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Casa Grande Cougars (Casa Grande, AZ), 9-8 in a non-league challenge.

The Chargers now own a 6-18 record. They take the field next when they host Sahuaro for a 4A Kino challenge on Friday, April 22. Cholla will face a Cougars squad coming off a 6-3 league loss to Pueblo (Tucson, AZ). The Cougars record now stands at 11-16.

With the loss, Casa Grande falls to 5-15 on the campaign. The Cougars host Mountain View (Tucson, AZ) to face the Mountain Lions in a 5A Sonoran challenge on Thursday, April 21. The Mountain Lions enter the challenge with a record of 11-11. Mountain View won 17-8 in their recent league challenge against Flowing Wells (Tucson, AZ)
