Illinois High School Softball - Arcola holds off Cumberland

Arcola Purple Riders (Arcola, IL) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Cumberland Pirates (Toledo, IL), 11-9 in a league challenge.

The Purple Riders now own a 5-6 record. They take the field next when they host Sullivan for a Lincoln Prairie challenge on Monday, April 22. Arcola will battle a Redskins squad coming off a 9-0 non-league loss to Edwards County (Albion, IL). The Redskins record now stands at 4-16.

With the loss, Cumberland falls to 6-11 on the campaign. The Pirates travel to Lawrenceville (Lawrenceville, IL) to battle the Indians in a non-league challenge on Monday, April 22. The Indians enter the challenge with a record of 7-10. Lawrenceville lost 12-0 in their recent non-league challenge against Salem (Salem, IL)
