New Hartford Spartans (New Hartford, NY) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Cicero-North Syracuse Northstars (Cicero, NY), 1-0 in a non-league challenge.

The Spartans now own a 3-1 record. They take the field next when they host Oneida for a Section 3 Tri-Valley challenge on Monday, April 22. New Hartford will battle a Express squad coming off a 16-2 league loss to Central Valley Academy (Ilion, NY). The Express record now stands at 4-2.

With the loss, Cicero-North Syracuse falls to 1-3 on the campaign. The Northstars host Saratoga Springs (Saratoga Springs, NY) to battle the Blue Streaks in a non-league challenge on Saturday, April 20. The Blue Streaks enter the challenge with a record of 2-3. Saratoga Springs won 9-0 in their recent league challenge against Averill Park (Averill Park, NY)
