Apex Cougars (Apex, NC) fans exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Cape Fear Colts (Fayetteville, NC), 2-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Cougars now sport a 13-3 record. They take the field next when they travel to Green Level for a Southwest Wake 4A challenge on Friday, April 22. Apex will face a Gators squad coming off a 13-0 non-league loss to Vance Charter (Henderson, NC). The Gators record now stands at 3-10.

With the loss, Cape Fear falls to 15-3 on the campaign. The Colts host South View (Hope Mills, NC) to face the Tigers in a United Eight 3A/4A challenge on Tuesday, April 26. The Tigers come into the game with a record of 9-8. South View lost 5-4 in their recent league game against Gray's Creek (Hope Mills, NC)
