Lewis Mills Spartans (Burlington, CT) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Thomaston Bears (Thomaston, CT), 7-6 in a non-league challenge.

The Spartans now own a 4-2 record. They take the field next when they host Glastonbury for a non-league challenge on Saturday, April 22. Lewis Mills will battle a Guardians squad coming off a 20-0 league win over Hall (West Hartford, CT). The Guardians record now stands at 4-4.

With the loss, Thomaston falls to 4-4 on the campaign. The Bears travel to Gilbert (Winsted, CT) to battle the Yellowjackets in a Berkshire challenge on Monday, April 24. The Yellowjackets enter the challenge with a record of 2-7. Gilbert lost 20-14 in their recent league challenge against Terryville (Terryville, CT)
