The crowd at Monday's league battle between the Oakwood Comets (Fithian, IL) and the visiting Hoopeston Cornjerkers (Hoopeston, IL), saw Oakwood's baseball team get by Hoopeston by a tally of 1-0.

The Comets (9-8) will now prepare for their challenge against St. Joseph-Ogden (St. Joseph, IL). The Spartans go into the non-league challenge with a 17-2 record. In their last challenge, St. Joseph-Ogden nipped Prairie Central (Fairbury, IL), 10-4, in a league challenge.

With the defeat, Hoopeston drops to 5-13 on the year. The Cornjerkers host Milford (Milford, IL) to clash with the Bearcats in a Vermilion Valley challenge on Wednesday, April 23. The Bearcats go into the challenge with a record of 8-9. Milford lost 14-10 in their recent non-league challenge against Westmont (Westmont, IL)
