Ellington Knights (Ellington, CT) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Coventry Patriots (Coventry, CT), 2-1 in a league challenge.

The Knights now own a 7-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to Dexter for a non-league challenge on Tuesday, April 26.

With the loss, Coventry falls to 6-2 on the campaign. The Patriots host Granby Memorial (Granby, CT) to face the Bears in a North Central Connecticut challenge on Monday, April 25. The Bears enter the challenge with a record of 1-3. Granby Memorial lost 13-2 in their recent league challenge against Canton (Canton, CT)
