Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley Falcons (Gibson City, IL) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Fieldcrest Knights (Minonk, IL), 5-1 in a league challenge.

The Falcons now own a 5-5 record. They take the field next when they host Heyworth for a Heart of Illinois challenge on Monday, April 25. Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley will battle a Hornets squad coming off a 9-0 non-league win over Deer Creek-Mackinaw (Mackinaw, IL). The Hornets record now stands at 10-4.

With the loss, Fieldcrest falls to 2-7 on the campaign. The Knights host Princeton (Princeton, IL) to battle the Tigers in a non-league challenge on Saturday, April 23. The Tigers enter the challenge with a record of 9-2. Princeton won 5-2 in their recent non-league challenge against Morrison (Morrison, IL)
