Cheverus Stags (Portland, ME) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad achieve victory over the host Sanford Spartans (Sanford, ME), 25-0 in a non-league challenge.

The Stags now own a 1-0 record. They take the field next when they host Scarborough for a Class A South challenge on Tuesday, April 23. Cheverus will face a Red Storm squad coming off a 15-5 league win over Thornton Academy (Saco, ME). The Red Storm record now stands at 2-0.

With the loss, Sanford falls to 0-2 on the campaign. The Spartans host Deering (Portland, ME) to face the Rams in a non-league challenge on Wednesday, May 1. The Rams enter the challenge with a record of 1-3.
