Illinois High School Softball - Newton sneaks past Richland County

April 22, 2024: Newton, IL 62448

The Newton Eagles softball team scored 3 runs and held the visiting Richland County Tigers to 2 in the Eagles league win on Monday.

The Eagles now sport a 18-5 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Mt. Carmel for a Little Illini battle on Tuesday, April 23. Newton will confront a Golden Aces team coming off a 21-3 non-league win over Grayville (Grayville, IL). The Golden Aces record now stands at 7-7.

With the loss, Richland County moves to 10-7 on the season. The Tigers host Hutsonville/Palestine (Palestine, IL) to confront the Tigers in a non-league battle on Wednesday, April 24. The Tigers come into the battle with a record of 6-6. Hutsonville/Palestine won 10-0 in their recent league battle against Martinsville (Martinsville, IL)
