Sparta Spartans (Sparta, WI) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Westby Norsemen (Westby, WI), 7-6 in a non-league challenge.

The Spartans now own a 1-5 record. They take the field next when they host La Crosse Logan for a Mississippi Valley challenge on Tuesday, April 23. Sparta will battle a Rangers squad coming off a 11-1 non-league loss to West Salem (West Salem, WI). The Rangers record now stands at 2-6.

With the loss, Westby falls to 0-7 on the campaign. The Norsemen travel to Richland Center (Richland Center, WI) to battle the Hornets in a non-league challenge on Thursday, April 25. The Hornets enter the challenge with a record of 1-5. Richland Center lost 18-8 in their recent league challenge against Dodgeville (Dodgeville, WI)
