Greenwich Cardinals (Greenwich, CT) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Weston Trojans (Weston, CT), 8-5 in a non-league challenge.

The Cardinals now own a 2-7 record. They take the field next when they travel to Warde for a Fairfield County challenge on Monday, April 25. Greenwich will face a Mustangs squad coming off a 16-4 league win over Stamford (Stamford, CT). The Mustangs record now stands at 5-4.

With the loss, Weston falls to 2-8 on the campaign. The Trojans host Immaculate (Danbury, CT) to face the Mustangs in a Southwest - Patriot challenge on Monday, April 25. The Mustangs enter the challenge with a record of 4-5. Immaculate lost 4-2 in their recent non-league challenge against Enfield (Enfield, CT)
