Greenbrier East Spartans (Lewisburg, WV) fans exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Independence Patriots (Coal City, WV), 4-0 in a non-league challenge.

The Spartans now sport a 15-8 record. They take the field next when they travel to Woodrow Wilson for a challenge on Friday, April 26. Greenbrier East will face a Flying Eagles squad coming off a 9-0 non-league loss to Independence (Coal City, WV). The Flying Eagles record now stands at 16-6.

With the loss, Independence falls to 13-10 on the campaign. The Patriots travel to Winfield (Winfield, WV) to face the Generals in a non-league challenge on Wednesday, April 24. The Generals enter the challenge with a record of 13-8. Winfield won 9-1 in their recent league challenge against Scott (Madison, WV)
