James Wood Colonels (Winchester, VA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Washington Patriots (Charles Town, WV), 6-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Colonels now own a 9-2 record. They take the field next when they travel to Skyline for a Northwestern challenge on Friday, April 26. James Wood will battle a Hawks squad coming off a 3-2 league loss to Meridian (Falls Church, VA). The Hawks record now stands at 5-6.

With the loss, Washington falls to 16-5 on the campaign. The Patriots travel to Jefferson (Shenandoah Junction, WV) to battle the Cougars in a Eastern Panhandle challenge on Friday, April 26. The Cougars enter the challenge with a record of 22-6. Jefferson won 24-0 in their recent league challenge against Martinsburg (Martinsburg, WV)
