Williams Valley Vikings (Tower City, PA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad achieve victory over the host Mahanoy Area Golden Bears (Mahanoy City, PA), 16-2 in a league challenge.

The Vikings now own a 12-2 record. They take the field next when they travel to Bloomsburg for a non-league challenge on Saturday, April 27. Williams Valley will face a Panthers squad coming off a 16-1 league loss to Southern Columbia Area (Catawissa, PA). The Panthers record now stands at 1-10.

With the loss, Mahanoy Area falls to 4-8 on the campaign. The Golden bears host Tamaqua (Tamaqua, PA) to face the Blue Raiders in a non-league challenge on Saturday, April 27. The Blue Raiders enter the challenge with a record of 0-9. Tamaqua lost 13-3 in their recent non-league challenge against Tri-Valley (Hegins, PA)
