The Merrillville Pirates baseball team scored 8 runs and held the visiting Wheeler Bearcats to 7 in the Pirates non-league win on Thursday.

The Pirates now hold a 2-9 record. They take the field next when they host Hammond Central for a non-league test on Monday, April 28. Merrillville will confront a Wolves squad coming off a 15-4 non-league loss to Calumet Christian (Griffith, IN). The Wolves record now stands at 6-6.
