In Thursday's league match, the visiting West Point Pointers softball team scored a tight 12-7 victory over the Mathews Blue Devils.

The Pointers (9-5) will now prepare for their match against Lafayette (Williamsburg, VA). The Rams go into the non-league match with a 0-12 record. In their last match, Lafayette was routed by New Kent (New Kent, VA), 20-0, in a league match.

In their next game, the Blue Devils battle the Nandua Warriors (Onley, VA) in a non-league match, on Monday, April 28. Mathews will attempt to better on its 4-5 season record. The Warriors go into the match with a 3-4 record after their 16-0 non-league loss to Greenbrier Christian Academy (Chesapeake, VA).
