Hillside Hornets (Durham, NC) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Southeast Raleigh Bulldogs (Raleigh, NC), 18-17 in a non-league challenge.

The Hornets now own a 1-7 record. They take the field next when they travel to East Chapel Hill for a DC-VI 4A challenge on Friday, April 26. Hillside will battle a Wildcats squad coming off a 9-1 league loss to Jordan (Durham, NC). The Wildcats record now stands at 9-7.

With the loss, Southeast Raleigh falls to 1-16 on the campaign. The Bulldogs host Clayton (Clayton, NC) to battle the Comets in a Greater Neuse River 4A challenge on Friday, April 26. The Comets enter the challenge with a record of 10-6. Clayton won 16-1 in their recent league challenge against South Garner (Garner, NC)
