In Friday's non-league match, the host Reed-Custer Comets softball team scored a tight 7-4 win over the Gardner-South Wilmington Panthers.
The Comets (8-8) will now prepare for their match against Peotone (Peotone, IL). The Blue Devils come into the Illinois Central Eight match with a 9-8 record. In their last match, Peotone nipped Chicago Christian (Palos Heights, IL), 7-6, in a non-league match.
In their next game, the Panthers confront the Grant Park Dragons (Grant Park, IL) in a River Valley match, on Tuesday, April 29. Gardner-South Wilmington will attempt to better on its 11-8 season record. The Dragons come into the match with a 9-6 record after their 3-1 non-league loss to Peotone (Peotone, IL).
