East Providence Townies (East Providence, RI) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host St. Raphael Academy Saints (Pawtucket, RI), 7-3 in a non-league challenge.

The Townies now own a 6-3 record. They take the field next when they host Coventry for a Division 1A (State) challenge on Friday, April 28. East Providence will face a Oakers squad coming off a 22-1 non-league win over Moses Brown (Providence, RI). The Oakers record now stands at 6-1.

With the loss, St. Raphael Academy falls to 2-7 on the campaign. The Saints travel to Smithfield (Esmond, RI) to face the Sentinels in a non-league challenge on Friday, April 28. The Sentinels enter the challenge with a record of 4-4. Smithfield won 12-1 in their recent non-league challenge against Scituate (North Scituate, RI)
