Cumberland Clippers (Cumberland, RI) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Pilgrim Patriots (Warwick, RI), 8-4 in a league challenge.

The Clippers now own a 7-3 record. They take the field next when they travel to La Salle Academy for a Division 1 (State) challenge on Tuesday, April 30. Cumberland will battle a Rams squad coming off a 5-1 league win over Prout (Wakefield, RI). The Rams record now stands at 12-0.

With the loss, Pilgrim falls to 5-4 on the campaign. The Patriots host Cranston West (Cranston, RI) to battle the Falcons in a Division 1 (State) challenge on Monday, April 29. The Falcons enter the challenge with a record of 6-2. Cranston West won 10-0 in their recent league challenge against Moses Brown (Providence, RI)
