Newtown Nighthawks (Newtown, CT) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad run past the host Kolbe-Cathedral Cougars (Bridgeport, CT), 21-0 in a non-league challenge.

The Nighthawks now own a 9-3 record. They take the field next when they host Immaculate for a Southwest - Patriot challenge on Friday, April 29. Newtown will battle a Mustangs squad coming off a 15-2 league win over Pomperaug (Southbury, CT). The Mustangs record now stands at 6-5.

With the loss, Kolbe-Cathedral falls to 3-7 on the campaign. The Cougars travel to New Fairfield (New Fairfield, CT) to battle the Rebels in a Southwest - Patriot challenge on Friday, April 29. The Rebels enter the challenge with a record of 4-7. New Fairfield lost 11-10 in their recent league challenge against Bethel (Bethel, CT)
