Mayfield Panthers (Mayfield, NY) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Notre Dame Bishop Gibbons Golden Knights (Schenectady, NY), 11-5 in a league challenge.

The Panthers now own a 7-2 record. They take the field next when they travel to Canajoharie for a Section 2 Western - Northern challenge on Friday, April 29. Mayfield will battle a Cougars squad coming off a 21-6 non-league win over Middleburgh (Middleburgh, NY). The Cougars record now stands at 2-1.

With the loss, Notre Dame Bishop Gibbons falls to 0-1 on the campaign. The Golden knights travel to Northville (Northville, NY) to battle the Falcons in a non-league challenge on Friday, April 29. The Falcons enter the challenge with a record of 0-0.
