New Philadelphia Quakers (New Philadelphia, OH) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting University Hawks (Morgantown, WV), 1-0 in a non-league challenge.

The Quakers now own a 12-4 record. They take the field next when they host Warren for a East Central Ohio challenge on Friday, April 29. New Philadelphia will battle a Warriors squad coming off a 5-0 non-league win over Vinton County (McArthur, OH). The Warriors record now stands at 8-3.

With the loss, University falls to 12-9 on the campaign. The Hawks host Bridgeport (Bridgeport, WV) to battle the Indians in a Big Ten challenge on Thursday, April 28. The Indians enter the challenge with a record of 6-10. Bridgeport won 11-6 in their recent non-league challenge against Buckhannon-Upshur (Buckhannon, WV)
