Southwestern Piasa Birds (Piasa, IL) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Calhoun Warriors (Hardin, IL), 4-0 in a non-league challenge.

The Piasa Birds now own a 12-9 record. They take the field next when they travel to Pana for a South Central challenge on Tuesday, April 30. Southwestern will battle a Panthers squad coming off a 7-1 league loss to Gillespie (Gillespie, IL). The Panthers record now stands at 16-7.

With the loss, Calhoun falls to 19-3 on the campaign. The Warriors host Seymour (Payson, IL) to battle the Indians in a non-league challenge on Monday, April 29. The Indians enter the challenge with a record of 12-12. Seymour won 10-7 in their recent non-league challenge against Augusta Southeastern (Augusta, IL)
