Kutztown Cougars (Kutztown, PA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Northwestern Wildcats (Albion, PA), 10-9 in a non-league challenge.

The Cougars now own a 10-2 record. They take the field next when they travel to Hamburg for a Berks County 3 challenge on Saturday, April 30. Kutztown will face a Hawks squad coming off a 17-1 non-league win over Muhlenberg (Laureldale, PA). The Hawks record now stands at 12-1.

With the loss, Northwestern falls to 3-6 on the campaign. The Wildcats host North East (North East, PA) to face the Grape Pickers in a District 10 Region 3 challenge on Friday, April 29. The Grape Pickers enter the challenge with a record of 2-3. North East won 15-3 in their recent league challenge against Iroquois (Erie, PA)
